January Sharing

I want to share some of the my favorite videos at the moment. Most of them are like three or four months old because I haven’t watch any recent videos.

2NE1 – Painful

G20 – Let’s Go (Korean Version)

2AM – To You Who’s Not Picking Up the Phone

2AM – Like Being Crazy

2PM – I’ll Be Back

BEAST – Beautiful

Co-Ed – Bbi Ri Bbom Bbae Ri Bbom

Truthfully, I’m only sharing this one because I like the song, but the video is too Lady Ga Ga for my taste.

JYJ – Ayy Girl

F.Cuz – Midnight Sun

Oh Won Bin – I Love You, I Love You (feat. Miryo of Brown Eyed Girls)

Tae Yeon & The One – Like A Star

Huh Gak – Always (or is it Whenever?)

You can download the above songs from the following playlists:

Kpop Hits 10/2010

Kpop Hits 11/2010

And newer songs from these playlists:

Kpop Hits 12/2010

Kpop Hits 01/2011

Note: Sorry, but I don’t have time to embed all off the videos today. I’ll update the list later on.

Recent Favorite Bands

Lately, I’ve been wasting my money by buying DVDs with Korean Performances. Some of them are months while the latest one I bought was just 2 months old. Each DVD costs around 1400 kyats (but I bought the last one for 1500 kyats) and so far, there are six volumes. I am happy that I can finally watch the latest (or nearly the latest) performances, but I am unsatisfied with the DVDs. Most of them contain only boybands and girlbands with the exception of Bi and Hyori. There are about 25-30 performances in each DVD, but there are only about 10 artists (including the bands) and the rest are repeats of the same song performances on different days. For example, just to watch some performances by C.N Blue, I had to pay 1400 kyats for a DVD that include newbies boybands and girlbands. I used to believe that by watching the performances, I might like the bands more, but now I’m starting to dislike some of the groups after watching the performances, even though I kinda of like the songs. I don’t recognize any of them and I can’t tell their voices apart most of the times.

So, I want to make a list of my favorite bands.

Five Favorite Boybands
1. Shinhwa
2. Big Bang
3. C.N Blue
4. 2AM
5. G.O.D

Others boybands I listen to (occasionally or sometimes)
2PM, F.T Island, DBSK, Super Junior, SHINee, V.O.S, SG Wannabe, Fly to the Sky, J-Walk, SS501, MBLAQ, BEAST, D-NA, T-Max, ZE:A, U-Kiss, 1TYM, Someday

Five Favorite Girlbands
1. 2NE1
2. Wonder Girls
3. 4 Minute
4. Brown Eyed Girls
5. Miss A (It’s too early to judge now)

Others girlbands I listen to (occasionally or sometimes)
Girls’ Generation, T-Ara, After School, Black Pearl, SeeYa, Davichi, f(x), Miss $

I think I listen to more boybands than girlbands. Among the boybands in my list, Shinhwa is inactive and G.O.D has disbanded. Even so, I love those bands a lot. Maybe I’m getting too old for newbies and I prefer listening to old kpop songs. But, I still like some of the new bands like C.N Blue. Actually, I’m really addicted to C.N Blue and it’s surprising for me because I usually don’t listen to rock at all. As for 2AM, when I mentioned about them on Facebook, someone told me that 2PM is more popular. I won’t deny that fact, but I like the former more since they can sing beautiful ballad. Also, I like Im Seulong a lot :) The best thing about all the five bands on my list is that I can tell all the voices apart.

Even among the girlbands, I only know the names of the band members from 2NE1 and Wonder Girls. As for others, it’s quite hopeless although I do catch some names like Hyun A (4Minute), Yoonah, Tiffany, Tae Yeon (Girls’ Generation although I only remember Yoonah because she was in some dramas), Jiyeon (T-Ara as she was in God of Study drama) and that girl from You’re Beautiful, in After School. I added Miss A to the list ‘cuz I couldn’t think of another band that I like a lot lately. I can only tell the girls’ voices apart in 2NE1 and sometimes Wonder Girls (after I watched their music videos or performances).

I am really getting sick of the same old pop/dance music. It’s just the bands who are changing, but the music is still pretty much the same. I’ve been doing a collection of old kpop songs for a friend and they are such a refreshment from the typical kpop songs. Maybe I’m tired to the new songs because I only get to watch boybands and girlbands on the DVDs that are available in the market. I pretty much prefer solo artists and those who aren’t all that famous yet deserve better ratings than most of the bands in the top chart.

For the Kids – Tablo & MYK

I am quite addicted to this song. You can download it from Zing at the link below.
For the Kids – Table & MYK

Lyrics

Lyrics by Tablo & MYK life is a mystery in all shapes, sizes and angles
from crop circles to Bermuda triangles
the fate of the world is shaky like bike handles
in the final hour, even some demons die angels
what’s true is true isn’t what you think it is
when the real world is a bad dream like incubus
triple X, triple Z, it’s the same damn thing
you get f***ed if your eyes are closed when the alarm rings

sing, passin’ the mic back and forth, forth and back
broke emcees, choke emcees who can’t afford to rap
or choose to stay hungry, imma stay hungry
free-fall, bounce back like it was a bungee
I snap back like a slingshot
bring hotness, yes, no stress cleanin’ up this mess
in this hiphop-ness I found my niche
let that b**ch breathe

remember rap when it used to be fun as hell?
remember rap like it was with Big Pun and L?

who cares about East or West or the dirty South
when you’ve got no diamonds in your dirty mouth?
it’s a burning house, hip hop goin’ poof
no wonder everybody wants to raise the roof
I see proof everyday that seekin’ heaven is bleak
I see proof everyday like Eminem in his sleep
the devil is deep water, kid, and nobody is stoppin’ ya
slip a toe in, in you go like slavia

silly rap sessions, thoughtless wordplay
hip hop nerds stay poem sketchin’
a coloring book for the philosophers
I lost a verse, and this is its half-assed rendition
I spit rhymes just to pass the time
and if life is just a brainstorm, then I’m a mastermind
always last in line, cause I don’t care enough
but when my time comes, best believe that I tear shit up

this is for you kids who don’t wanna be a businessman
this is for you kids who don’t have a damn business plan

let me see two in the sky, guy, one for the living
stay fly, high, one for the music in ‘I’
two for the good life
keep the champagne sittin’ in the freezer on the block of that cool ice
stay nice, eskimo cool flow
I say why you gotta be testin’ a dude yo?
stop guessin’ at clues, you’ll be destined to lose
yeah we fresh when we move and we blessed in the booth

2NE1

2NE1 is either pronounced as “21″ or “To Anyone”. I think the later is used more frequently.

As kpop fans already know, 2NE1 is the a girlband from YG Entertainment. Their first single, “Lollipop”, was a collaboration with Big Bang and it was an immediate hit indeed. Some say that it was due to Big Bang’s popularity for the success of the song and not because 2NE1 has talents. So, they have proven that they can stand on their own by releasing “Fire” single. Now, they have released their first mini-album and using the second track, “I Don’t Care” to promote their album.

Among the four members in the group, CL (Lee Chae Rin) is the leader of the group although she’s only 18, younger than Dara and Bom. She mainly sings raps but also sings vocal. Truthfully, I disliked her rapping at first. I thought it sounded similar to rapping from Brown Eyed Girls and Jewelry, but later I got used to her.

Bom (Park Bom) has already featured in other albums with Big Bang, Lexy, etc. She was supposed to released her own album, but later she became a member of 2NE1. She’s already 25 now, the same age as me, and she sings the lead vocals.

Dara (Sandara Park) received her first fame when she was in Gummy’s “I’m Sorry” video with T.O.P. Many fans were jealous that she got a kissing scene with T.O.P and now she is in another video with Lee Minho. She’s 24 now and some people says that she can’t sing. Well, I think her voice is fine and she has recently released a digital single, “Kiss”, featuring CL. I like her the most in the group because she looks so cute especially when she puts her hair up, like in “Lollipop” music video.

The last member, Minzy (Gong Minji) is only 15 now. Can you believe that? She sure didn’t look like 15 at all ‘cuz her voice doesn’t sound childish. In fact, I prefer her rapping over CL. She also sings vocal.

01 Fire
This is my second favorite song. There are two versions of the music videos, space version and street version. I like the space version better.

02 I Don’t Care
Currently, Sony ATV has accused the writers of this song for plagiarizing Lionel Richie’s “Just Go” song. I don’t want to discuss about it right now.
I heard the remixed version of I Don’t Care before listening to this version so this one sounds slower for me. But still I like it.

03 In the Club
Hmm.. Mariah Carey’s song sounded like the intro of this song, but I am not going to argue about who is right and wrong.

04 Let’s Go Party
Let’s go Party. Work that body are pretty catchy lines from this upbeat song.

05 Pretty Boy

06 Stay Together

07 Lollipop feat. Big Bang
I love this song so much. Perhaps it’s due to Big Bang also. The music video is so colorful and makes me want to eat lollipops. Perhaps, that’s the intention lolz. I love Dar’s hairstyle in the music video. She looks so out of this world.

G-dragon – Heartbreaker

G-dragon’s first album was released on August 18, on this 21st birthday.

Lately, he has been accused to plagiarizing in his songs “Heartbreaker” and “Butterfly”. Since this is only an album review, I have no desire to discuss those issues.

There are 10 tracks in the album and he’s currently promoting the second track, “Hearbreaker”. He has already two music videos so far, “Heartbreaker” and “Breathe”. Although all his songs are related to hip-hop, like Big Bang songs, most of them are influenced by electro and techno. Aside from “She’s Gone”, I like the rest of the songs.

01. Boy
Quite different from the intro (or) first songs I hear in Myanmar hip-hop albums, but then again, it’s GD after all.

02. Heartbreaker
Will I ever get tired of this? Nah..I don’t think so.

03. Breathe
I can’t differentiate whether the lyric is supposed to be “I Can Breathe” or “I Cant’ Breathe”. I think “I Cant’ Breathe” is more suitable with the rest of the lyrics, but I can only hear “I Can Breathe”.

04. Butterfly (Feat. Jin Jung)
Makes you want to think of your first love if you have one….quite slow yet nice…

05. Hello (Feat. Dara)
In this song, GD teaches how to get a girl. Dara from 2NE1 featured in this song.

06. Gossip Man (Feat. Kim Gun Mo)
Actually, this is the first song I listened to since it was written about his hardships regarding rumors and gossips about him. It’s also my favorite song on the whole album. I love Kim Gun Mo’s voice.

07. Korean Dream (Feat. TaeYang)
Truthfully, I don’t get the main idea of this song. Perhaps, the lyric translations are a bit confusing for me to understand. But the songs is a really good one, aside from his cursing. And of course, Tae Yang featured in the song.

08. The Leaders (Feat. Teddy, CL)
Quite different from the rest of the songs, this is a true, pure hip-hop song featuring Teddy and CL.

09. She’s Gone (Feat. KUSH)
I like the rapping but the chorus is too noisy for me.

10. 1년 정거장 (Station 1 year)
Kind of reminds me of Oh My Friend but it’s not exactly like that also. I am no music expert to say what kind of song this is.

Overall, the album is a really good one. I started listening to this before my exam started and it was quite difficult to focus on my study as my mind kept replying the songs over and over again. I can’t even listen to any other albums especially the most recent released by Ye’ Lay ‘cuz I can’t get enough of GD.

Big Bang – Remember Review

I had actually been looking forward to Big Bang’s second album for such a long time. Instead, they had only released only 3 mini-albums. Now that they have finally released the album, I can’t help saying that I was disappointed with it. When they first released, I didn’t like “Lie” that much at first but after a couple of listening, that song became addicted. But at least there were still other songs related to hip-hop and pop. I was never a big fan of House/Electronic in the first place but that didn’t stop me from liking all of their songs. The last mini-album, “Stand Up”, is the only album where I didn’t listen to all of the songs and chose to listen to “Haru Haru” and “Oh My Friend” only most of the times. I was already a bit tired to House/Electronic and I wanted to listen to songs that are related to hip-hop.

But instead, I just more House/Electronic again :( . There are 11 tracks but if you exclude the intro and the three remixes of Haru Haru, Lie and Last Farewell, there are only 7 new songs. I must say again that I am not a big fan of remixes. They sound pretty much the same to me except the background music.

So far, the only song that catches my ears is “Sunset Glow”. That song is a remake of another song which had been coved by Shinwa before. I had never heard the original version but I’ve loved it ever since I heard Shinhwa’s version.

Perhaps, by a couple of weeks, I might actally start to like the rest of the songs. That has happened to me a couple of times already with so many albums I didn’t like during my first time listening.

Big Bang – Day by Day

I am so addicted to this song. I can’t remember how many times I have listen to this ever since it came out. The lyrics are so beautiful also.

Day by Day (Haru Haru)
Download

Leave
Yeah, Finally I realize that I am nothing without you
I was so wrong, forgive me

Ah ah ah ah~

[Verse 1; GD + TOP]
My broken heart like a wave
My shaken heart like a wind

My heart vanished like smoke
It can’t be removed like a tattoo
I sigh deeply as if a ground is going to cave in
Only dusts are piled up in my mind
(say goodbye)

[GD Rap]
Yeah, I thought I wouldn’t be able to live even one day without you
But somehow I managed to live on (longer) than I thought
You don’t answer anything as I cry out “I miss you”
I hope for a vain expectation but now it’s useless

[TOP Rap]
What is it about that person next to you, did he make you cry?
Dear can you even see me, did you forget completely?
I am worried, I feel anxiety because I can’t get close nor try to talk to you
I spend long nights by myself, erasing my thoughts a thousand times

[Chorus]
Don’t look back and leave
Don’t find me again and live (on)
Because I have no regrets from loving you, take only the good memories
I can bear it in some way
I can stand in some way
You should be happy if you are like this
I become dull day by day (eh eh eh eh)

Oh girl I cry, cry
You’re my all, say goodbye…

[Verse 2; SR + DS]
If we pass by each other on the street
Act like you didn’t see me and go the way you were walking to
If you keep thinking about our past memories
I might go look for you secretly

[GD] Always be happy with him, (so) I won’t ever get a different mind
Even smallest regret won’t be left out ever
Please live well as if I should feel jealous

[TOP] You should always be like that bright sky, like that white cloud
Yes, you should always smile like that as if nothing happened

[Chorus]
Don’t look back and leave
Don’t find me again and live (on)
Because I have no regrets from loving you, take only the good memories
I can bear it in some way
I can stand in some way
You should be happy if you are like this
I become dull day by day (eh eh eh eh)

[Bridge; DS + SR]
I hope your heart fees relieved
Please forget about me and live (on)
Those tears will dry completely
As time passes by

[YB] It would’ve hurt less if we didn’t meet at all (mm)
Hope you will bury our promise of being together forever baby
I pray for you

[Chorus]
Don’t look back and leave
Don’t find me again and live (on)
Because I have no regrets from loving you, take only the good memories
I can bear it in some way
I can stand in some way
You should be happy if you are like this
I become dull day by day (eh eh eh eh)

Oh girl I cry, cry
You’re my all, say goodbye, bye
Oh my love don’t lie, lie
You’re my heart, say goodbye

2 AM

I’m currently listening to this new Korean boyband called “2 AM” and they are amazing. At first, I was skeptical and thought of them as just another teen idol wannabes who have only good looks but have squeaky, annoying voices. So when I saw their first single online, I wasn’t that interested in them but gave them a try and I like all the songs. Once again, JYP has done it again and unlike Wonder Girls, all of them can really sing, (not that I am trying to bash the girls as they are my fav girlband). I was quite amazed that although they are new, their voices are so good.

The single album contains three songs in which the first two are ballads and the last one is a pop song but it’s not like typical kpop songs that you hear some other boybands sing. What I mean is that when a new boyband emerges, usually they just sing a r&b + pop song and dances while performing. Sometimes they are good but sometimes I’m quite sick of seeing and hearing not so unique songs. While performing, they would do those so called cute actions and the audience who are mainly junior high or high school girls would be screaming their heads off.

Happy 10th Anniversary Shinhwa!

Shinhwa

I almost forgot that today is Shinhwa’s 10th anniversary day. I was so caught up in work and I only found out a few minutes. I intended to celebrate the day listening to their songs all day long but the new rule at work won’t allow me to listen to music with headphone.

Anyway, happy anniversary :) . Can’t believe it’s 10 years already. I became their fan back in 2002 after watching their 1st live concert. At that time, my fav member was HyeSung ‘cuz I fell in love with his voice. His voice is still amazing but now my favorite is Minwoo. At that time, I was still naive with using the internet to download their songs and videos so I didn’t know much about them except the songs from the concert. Later on, I learned more about the internet and I found their albums online. After their 7th album was released, I have became a really big fan of them and I became to like all the members.

Their 9th album is gonna be released next month. I am looking forward to it. :)
